Accelerating Success and Inclusion of Women

Incubating Programs, Events and Initiatives that are Designed

to Accelerate the Success and Inclusion of Women

About SHEACCELERATOR   INC.

It all began in 2010 when Marina R. James and Mary Jane Maillet Brownscombe recognized the need for initiatives focused on the success and inclusion of women in society and professional life. They established SHEACCELERATOR Inc., a socially responsible enterprise, and they set out to build a network of people and organizations to share the vision of success and inclusion of women. At the time, their focus was on a  one day event that brought women together to hear success stories of Winnipeg women.

SHEday    was the first initiative to be advanced within SHEACCELERATOR. SHEday   , (Share, Hear Empower) is a professional development event designed to build alliances and strength to ensure women’s voices are heard and that women are empowered to take their place in community, business and politics.

The activities of SHEACCELERATOR benefit society. When women work, economies grow. Enhancing women's roles in economic participation and social development is essential to social justice and reducing poverty. The programs and initiatives of SHEACCELERATOR serve the unique interests of women in leadership, in professional life, in politics, in business, in society.

SHEACCELERATOR will continue to change the landscape by providing a valuable opportunity for women from diverse backgrounds to support each other by sharing knowledge, insights, experiences and stories to help navigate business and leadership systems for greater prosperity, social inclusion, health and to maximize the authenticity of their personal brand.

Programs, events and initiatives of SHEACCELERATOR serve the unique and diverse needs and interests of women.

About SHEday

SHARE • HEAR • EMPOWER

SHEday    was created in 2014 as an affordable, one day, professional development event for women wanting to fully participate in advancing their potential in the economy and in the community. SHEday    (Share, Hear, Empower) provides women with knowledge, tools and networks to build confidence so they can assume a myriad of leadership roles.

SHEday    provides a valuable opportunity for women from diverse backgrounds to support each other by sharing knowledge, insights, experiences and stories to help navigate business and leadership systems for greater prosperity, social inclusion, health and to maximize the authenticity of their personal brand. SHEday    encourages women to play a greater role in Canada's economic fabric and ecosystem.

The primary interest for this day came from our desire to bridge the communication across women and strengthen a foundation that enables success for all women and that all women should play a role in supporting the success of women

in Canada and around the world. Women in leadership can inspire and facilitate success for other women and we all need to work together to accomplish this. SHEday    is focused on women with the goal of building leadership capacity and strength.

SHEday    is an International Economic Development Council Award winning event because of its impact on the advancement and inclusion of women in society, in the workplace and for community engagement.

SHEACCELERATOR Inc. and its co-founders Marina R. James and Mary Jane Maillet Brownscombe launched the first SHEday    in Winnipeg, Manitoba in January of 2015 along with Brenda LaRose.

Over 5 consecutive years, the SHEday    success has demonstrated the incredible demand by delegates, speakers and sponsors for innovative experiences designed for women. Each year the event grew in response to the demand for participation. Over the years more than 5500 delegates heard from over 100 speakers. SHEday    2019 was an overwhelming success with 1700 delegates.

2019 Update on SHEday

After considerable thought, the Founders of SHEday    pressed the "pause" button for 2020 to take time to Reflect, Rejuvenate and Recalibrate.

The success of SHEday    would not have been achieved without the year over year commitment of our Premier Sponsor, RBC; the Presenting Partner, Women's Enterprise Centre of Manitoba and contributions of sponsors, delegates, and many business partners.

SHEday    serves as a proof point that innovative experiences designed for women are in high demand. We truly are grateful for the tremendous energy shown in support of the idea to bring an affordable, diverse, rich, women's focused event to life.  Over the years of SHEday   , ideas for personal, career and community innovation took flight. Many businesses were launched as a result of the SHEday    experience and many friendships were formed.

Thank you Winnipeg! It takes courage and tremendous passion to lead change. We hope you find your courage, live your passion, and share your stories to empower others!to lead change. We hope you find your Courage, live your Passion and share your stories to empower others!
